"Location was great. Close walk to just about everything. You’ll need to take a taxi to the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street and 9/11 Memorial. It’s not off Broadway so it was quiet at night. The staff were very friendly and helpful too. We thought the beds were comfortable but oh man the rooms. They need to be updated bad!!! Walls were patched with wall paper and done poorly. Heaters did not work so it was freezing at night. No coffee in the rooms but located right next to Starbucks and another place, which I preferred. One elevator was down the entire time. For the money you’d think it’d be nicer."

"The bathroom door was damaged and painted over. The shower drain cover slid out of place when I stepped on it. The Wallpaper was covering major bubbles on the wall. The bathroom barely accommodates one person and there’s no vent. The window cover was dirty and the actual window frame was loose which might explain the traffic sounds 10 stories up. Frayed towels and frayed material on the platforms of the beds are cosmetic but ICK! I wanted to treat my daughter. Instead, I apologized. Good ratings must be for the location. With taxes the room was $616."

"Stayed 4 nights here in November, on my 2 daughters 1st trip to New York. Great location, plenty to do and see in the area, subway station just across the road. Checkin process was very easy and quick, made easier by the very helpful and professional Audry and Keenan. Room was very spacious, well cleaned. A few small maintenance jobs in the rooms could be done to a better standard, but flaking paint in the bathroom would, in no way, affect my stay, or general impressions of this lovely hotel. I didn't, personally, come to new york to sit in my room. Once it is clean, spacious, and warm, thats enought for me.All staff are friendly, and helpful, esp the night man at reception, who was more than helpful. Great hot showers, and warm rooms. A kettle or small microwave would have been handy, but not the end of the world not having them. Empire Hotel should be very proud of the excellent service provided by their staff Will be my go-to hotel from now on when visiting new york."

"Had an amazing check in experience with Ariel and Joseph! They were so accommodating and helpful. They started our trip out perfectly! Loved the location and the gorgeous lobby and rooftop bar. Staff was excellent at the rooftop too! Rooms definitely need some updating, beds and bathrooms included, but the boutique hotel vibe was super fun."

"It was disappointing to experience the receptionist’s attitude. This will be our first and last stay at this hotel. I’m relieved that my family and I, who traveled from abroad, only had to stay here for two nights. The receptionist, Kat, who checked us in last night, seemed as if she was having a bad day. We simply asked for parking recommendations, and her response—and overall attitude—was unacceptable. We travel often, and this is one of the most unpleasant experiences we’ve had. I would strongly recommend that others avoid staying here. A front desk receptionist plays an important role in creating a friendly and welcoming environment. We had more questions, but we were afraid to ask because we didn’t want to make our stay even more uncomfortable. The lobby is nice, but the rooms need renovation. Our bathroom door is coming apart, and the temperature control unit is also falling apart. The cleaner did a great job by leaving their trash bag with the dirty gloves in the room as well.. 🙄"
