"Don't book it! As I was about to check in earlier today, a man was leaving the hotel (apparently he had only stayed for one night, out of a whole week originally booked). He warned me rooms were unkept and unclean - I asked to see a room, and sure enough, unkept and unclean! The front desk lady was nice, but didn't make up for the hotel condition. Area didn't feel safe, and this was at 11 am. My reservation was non-refundable, yet safety and cleanliness are non-negotiable for me, so I took the loss."

"Absolutely horrible. It took hotel staff almost 20 minutes to check us in for a reserved stay and the elevator shuddered like it was going to plummet to the floor and those were signs. Our room didn't have a real number, just painter's tape and sharpie on the door. The pillows were yellowed and stained, the pillowcases were gray and pilled. There were two TVs in the room, neither worked. The safe was broken. One of my kids sat down on the sofa and an actual cloud of dust rose up like a cartoon. When I tried to call down to the front desk, the phone didn't work either. We took the terrifying revelator back downstairs and the gentleman at the desk offered to have housekeeping "come take a look" at the linens but not the actual pillows, which were not in cases, the broken safe or phone, and blamed the broken TVs on the satellite. (It was drizzling.) Avoid like the plague."

"Stayed there for a large family gathering a few weeks ago. The Brooklyn is a 2 star hotel at best - don't believe 3 stars. Very broken down and need of repairs. Minimal linens, rooms and hallway are not cleaned well, lamps not plugged-in, missing plug covers, elevator not fully operational, asked for an ironing board - it was broken and delivered broken. The front desk is fully shielded like you are in a pawn shop. Bar/hospitality area shut down and no signs of reopening. Person at the front desk in the morning has zero customer service skills and is not welcoming at all. Outside looks like you approach an abandoned building. Across the street from a train line. Beware, as pictures do not represent what it looks like now!"

"Rooms are dirty, no mattress covers, and the mattress under the sheets covered in hair and dirt from previous guests. Towels were threadbare with holes, and brown from use. The sheets did not feel or look clean. I was in two different rooms during my stay, and neither had a working lock on the door. The shower was completely broken with water spewing from the pipes rather than the shower head. There was a safe in the room, however it did not work or lock. I did not feel comfortable or safe leaving anything of value in the room. The carpeted floors were dirty and stained, and the walls were thin. You could hear everything through the floor and walls from the rooms next door as well as the hall. The elevator was terrifying. The service was lovely and the people were nice, but it did not make up for the poor condition of the hotel. I was not able to stay the full time and left for a different hotel midway through. I would not recommend."

"This is definitely worth the price. While there are minor flaws, I really enjoyed my stay here. The beds were comfy, the shower was gorgeous, my room had a great view. I've stayed in a bigger name chain with worse quality rooms, for more money. Pros: Nespresso machine in room! IMO, small tips for improvement: add some life to the lobby (music, or even the news on the TVS). Some new towels (small and ratty, from bleach). Extra toilet paper in room would be handy."
