"The host was as he should be but the rooms he presented to us were not as they seem as advertised. Don’t be fooled the walls looked like they were painted a dozen times over and the floors and corners were covered in some black ash. The SHARED bathroom was filthy and there is no bteakfast. Just a kitchen with no working stove that you mist share with other tenets. While we stayed the host promised we would be the only ones staying for the first couple of days yet I heard voices and laughter right next door to us. I don’t see why he had to lie. It all felt wrong. Stay someehere else if you’d like to stay in New York. This place is not it."

"This place is a hidden gem! You absolutely cannot beat the price. The owner bent over backwards to get us into our room early and was extremely kind to us. The C train connection is literally two houses down so it’s very convenient to get downtown or almost anywhere. It was clean, quiet, and we felt very safe."

"Cozy and quaint. To answer questions that I had as a guest: Yes, they take the whole payment up front. They will send you check in information the day of your reservation. This freaked me out a little bit because I sent 2 emails in the week leading up and they went unanswered. There is a kitchen, toilet, and separate shower. All were clean enough. No breakfast was provided. The rooms were clean but the beds were incredibly uncomfortable. We had a lovely stay, and all things considered i would stay here again knowing what I know now. Lawrence the innkeeper was very kind. I wouldn’t call this a B&B experience, it’s a hostel if anything. But it was a safe and clean place to unwind after long days in the city."

"My stay in this guest house was very nice and comfy! The house is old, but with all the comfort you need! The host is great very helpful and kind. We stayed just for the nights, because during the day we were always out exploring the city. The location of the house is in upper Manhattan, half an hour far, with subway, from Time square and the main city center The Subway stop is 50 m from the door, so it's very close ! I recommend this place to someone who is searching for something nice, not to fancy, not to centrally located, not too expensive, but still good and comfortable!"

"The worst place I've ever stayed in 10 years of travel. Dirty, worn down, even unsafe. The mattresses in the Green Room were truly awful, every single spring was prominent and hard. None of the 3 of us got any quality sleep in 2 nights there. There was no breakfast, not even any snacks or drinks in the kitchen, just a half filled tray of ice in the freezer. The toilet room is tiny, when you sit on the toilet the sink is directly in your face. The shower room was gross, the tiles in horrible, broken, condition. The stairs are sloped and creaky. The exterior hasn't been maintained in any way. I don't know if this place used to be nicer, but it has gone as far down hill as it's possible to go. The pictures provided online when you book aren't close to what it actually looks like now. We were worried about walking around without socks, that's how gross the place is. Avoid at all costs, it's worth another $25-$50/night to NOT stay here. Stay somewhere else, anywhere else. The person that owns it, Lawrence, did not communicate, didn't send an email with how to check in, check out, nothing. The only food nearby is a Dunkin Donuts."
