"Had a wonderful experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the decor and atmosphere. The reading room and rooftop bar were excellent. My only complaint is the rooms were a bit on the warm side even with the AC lowered completely. I kept the windows open for most of the day to compensate."

"This pains me greatly after staying here and at a sister property for almost 20 years: the Library is long past its prime. The rooms are somewhat musty smelling and furniture has fast faded. Our recent first night we had drinks at the beloved rooftop bar. The men’s room - before 8pm - was a shocking disaster. Trash strewn throughout. The elevators are simply dirty. Worst, and this has been a concern for the last few years: there is zero security in the building. Literally anyone can walk in off the street and be on an elevator just steps away. No floor requires a key card to access. A valet or doorman is rarely at the door - especially at night. When I mildly mentioned this to the front desk upon checkout (staff is excellent) they insisted that someone “walks through” on a regular basis. Nonsense. If you’re not staying at the hotel you can pop into an elevator and head to the bar but you can stop and wander on any floor you like. Likewise, if you’re at the bar, you can wander down to any floor you’d like. I have never ever seen a “staffer” doing any sort of relevant or meaningful security walk-through. It’s an absurd set up and probably wraps up our decade-plus visits. Location is great. It’s no value though, so you can find many better equally priced places even nearby. While the “library” vibe and Dewey decimal rooms numbers were once creative and fun, the rooms are just dumping grounds now for old books. I still love the Library; I’m just not sure we’ll stay with their collection of hotels ever again. It makes me sad."

"My boyfriend surprised me with a stay at this hotel when we went to NYC and now no other hotel will compare. This is a book lovers dream. Literally down the block from the New York Public Library this cozy hotel awaits. They’ve got a second floor dedicated to reading and having a nice warm cup of Tea or Coffee. It’s open 24/7 as well so if you’re a night owl you’ll enjoy at any time of day! They also offer a lovely rooftop bar with cocktails inspired by book titles. The hotel staff was absolutely delightful as well. Kind, helpful and overall welcoming. This will now be our go to hotel whenever we visit NYC! Thanks for everything Library Hotel "

"Was on a business trip to NYC, first time there. Not knowing what to expect and Steve, the doorman, helped me out not realizing I was at the Library Hotel due to the scaffolding around the entrance. Polite, genuine, well informed. He later offered me an umbrella when I went out for my last night in the city, it's small things that go a long way with me. Rest of the staff were great. Centrally located to the Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building, Grand Central Station and the NY Library. I will be coming back."

"We will be back! Everyone, including John, Steven, and the evening desk person (so sorry I didn’t catch his name) was so helpful and kind during our stay. Our room was incredibly quiet and well stocked. Having the complimentary snacks 24 hours a day was a godsend at midnight when we were hungry or thirsty. Talk about an amazing location! A 3 walk to Grand Central. We absolutely loved it here, and will make it our home base when we visit the city again!"
