"The location of Hotel 57 is excellent and one of its biggest advantages. It is very well situated and makes exploring Manhattan easy and convenient. The hotel lobby is stylish, and the staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, which we truly appreciated. Unfortunately, this positive impression does not continue in the rooms. The rooms are old but generally clean; however, there are clear signs of heavy wear and tear. The carpet, in particular, felt outdated and hygienically questionable. The bed was extremely narrow, and the mattress was completely worn out – you could clearly feel the metal springs, which made sleeping uncomfortable. The rooms are also very noisy. You can hear everything from the hallway as well as from neighboring rooms, and light from the hallway was shining through the gap under the door, which was disturbing at night. In addition, the air conditioning/heating unit was extremely loud. We had to switch it off at night in order to sleep, but once it was off, the room became very cold due to poorly insulated windows. To make matters worse, there was no complimentary water provided in the room, which is disappointing given the price level. Overall, Hotel 57 offers an excellent location, a nice lobby, and very friendly staff, but the rooms are in urgent need of renovation, better sound insulation, improved door sealing, and more efficient climate control to meet expectations for this price range."

"Stayed here December 8th-9th. Overall a great hotel. The staff were friendly and the room was spacious (we had 2 full beds.) The bathroom was huge with generous hot water and water pressure. I would highly recommend this hotel for its location to many NYC sights. Rockefeller plaza and times square were just a 10-15 walk away. I'm deducting 1 star bc my room was $450. I understand it's Christmas time and hotels can raise their rates. But this is a $200 room normally. We didn't come to NYC to see the tree and times square - we came on business. $450 is absurd."

"A clean, honest hotel experience. If you go in with the right expectations, you will not be disappointed. We booked this via a Hotwire Black Friday deal and ended up paying less per night than a hostel, so for us the price was right. If you are looking for the Four Seasons, you may be disappointed. Although the hotel is very safe and clean (just dated), the best part about it is its location. Minutes walk from historic Bloomingdales, great bars, cafes and bodegas. Excellent Swiss chocolate shops, and most all of the major American retail stores within walking distance. Within minutes to the subway lines and even walking back to the subway at 2am was very safe. The rooms are clean and big (just dated), the beds are comfortable but smaller compared to other American hotels however the place was very quiet for NYC standards and we slept very well. The bathroom had great water pressure and they supplied shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, blow dryer. Rooms come with coffee maker and on the 3rd floor, in the fitness center is a fresh water machine to fill up your water bottles. There really wasn’t any use for the coffee maker, as just outside are countless great cafes to grab a good NYC coffee. If you are here to spend most of your time out and about in the city, while only returning for a good night sleep, this is the hotel for you! Location and price can’t be beat. Special shout out to Daniel who helped us store our luggage and book a cab back to JFK. We would stay again."

"We had a wonderful stay at Hotel 57! I visit New York multiple times a year, and it can be tough to find hotels that are truly good, clean, and feel safe — but this one absolutely checks all the boxes. The rooms were spotless and the beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable, giving us some of the best sleep we've had in a hotel. The location felt very safe and incredibly convenient, with just a 4-minute walk to the subway. The lobby and elevators have a fun retro vibe that adds to the charm of the hotel. We also appreciated the added security of needing a keycard for the elevators as well as having a doorman on duty at all times. Every employee we encountered was kind, helpful, and genuinely accommodating. A bonus perk we loved: filtered water dispensers on multiple floors, making it super convenient to refill our water bottles throughout our stay. Overall, a fantastic experience. I’ll definitely stay here again!"

"Loved our stay here! We booked for 5 nights and at first we're a little nervous seeing the historical ratings. We were quickly assured we had made the best decision upon checking in. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They helped explain the additional fees/fares per city ordinances + helped us with our baggage. They were able to give us an early check in despite us not planning for one and showing up unbelievably early. Upon check in, they assisted us with our bags and gave us some great local recommendations. The room matched the description and the water pressure is amazing! We were street facing, but did not have noticeable noise from the street activity below. The location is great for first time visitors - a solid split between upper and lower Manhattan activities. Being so close to 2 different metro stops helped us navigate the city with ease."
