"The service here is absolutely phenomenal! A shout out to David and all his crew. They helped make the experience memorable and worthwhile. The rooms are compressed but nothing that's unusual for new york. And they make an incredible use of space. The pictures do not do justice to the beauty of the rooms. There is elegant details on the ceiling the walls, and even in the closet. If you are looking for a hotel close to the NYC theater scene I strongly recommend this hotel."

"I’d really like to keep this hotel. But it’s too good not to share honestly. The staff here is super friendly and very accommodating. We stayed here on our honeymoon and they went above and beyond to celebrate with us and made us feel so special. The room is small, but it’s functional enough for two people. Though it would be more comfortable with just one person. Just something to know, not a ton of bathroom privacy but I suppose you’ll have that in majority of the New York City hotels. Location is fantastic, especially if you’re a tourist and looking to go to Broadway shows or visit times Square or do some shopping. We did have some trouble navigating the thermostat. I don’t know that we were ever able to control it. So it got kind of toasty in our room, but we were able to crack a window, which was nice. We absolutely loved the rooftop bar and cocktail lounge that they have. Rosevale’s manager is a doll & I highly recommend you check it out if you stay here!"

"I research a lot of hotels before I chose one in New York City. This one did not disappoint. The staff was great. The location was very good. The room was very clean. There is not a lobby, but there are two bars there which were nice. The elevators were quick and there were three. Most of the hotels at this price point had many complaints about long weights for the elevator. I think the longest I waited this hotel was less than five minutes. The room itself was small, but you’re not going to find a big room in New York for this price point and location. My room was on the 18th floor and while there were a normal city noises, I was able to sleep very well. I had to ask for help a few times in the staff was so pleasant and willing to help. There was also a pizza place right next-door. That was very good. The only thing I would’ve changed is to have a place to sit to get out of the room since the room is small, but I think that is rare in New York City. There were places to sit at certain times during the day, but not all day and night. If you are looking for the best value for your money in New York City, I think this is the place. I have stayed in a lot of hotels and Airbnb’s and this is the best one you’ll find in New York in this range."

"I had a truly unforgettable stay at Civilian! This place has an amazing aesthetic. The lobby, rooms, and bathrooms are so gorgeous beyond what’s shown in the pictures. Yes the rooms are very small so plan accordingly or opt for the upgraded room. Either way the huge windows provide such nice views! This hotel is super cozy and exactly what I was looking for. Lastly, David gave stellar customer service in the face of adversity and I genuinely appreciate his help with an issue I faced after my stay. Only wish I could have stayed longer!"

"Amazing 7 night stay at CIVILIAN in March 2025. Huge room - we were traveling with a wheelchair and were provided with an ADA-friendly room. Staff friendly and helpful. Exquisite decor. Blue room, restaurants and bars all beautiful. Amazing location... we saw 5 Broadway shows across 5 days and all theatres within a 10 minute walk, again using a wheelchair. Recommended."
