"Great location here, right where you’d want to be with easy access all over NYC. Rooms themselves are very compact with little room to manoeuvre around and a mediocre comfort bed. No cleaning throughout your stay, and the shower lacked much pressure in a very small bathroom. Heat took a while to get the hang of and also the huge pipe in the room made loud noise at all hours. We slept ok after a couple nights of adjustment but I’d be looking elsewhere to revisit the city. By no means a bad stay, just lacking and I’d want a bit better."

"I had a very disappointing and stressful experience with Chelsea Inn in November 2025, and I cannot recommend this hotel based on how our situation was handled. We arrived with a fully paid Booking.com reservation and payment confirmation in hand, yet the hotel staff told us they had “not received the payment” and refused to check us in. Having contacted Booking.com themselves without any resolution during the weeks before, the staff placed the entire risk and responsibility on us. They insisted that we cancel the booking on our own and pay them again directly, promising they would “approve” a free cancellation afterward and “guarantee the same rate.” This would have exposed us to a potential double payment and was completely unacceptable. After a call with Booking.com customer support, they started a dialogue with the hotel, and it turned out that the money had been claimed from my virtual credit card by someone other than the hotel, indicating some sort of scam in the system. The reservation was then cancelled by Booking.com and refunded to us. Despite, we were forced to find last-minute accommodation elsewhere at a higher price, causing unnecessary stress and disruption to our travel plans. The biggest issue here was not just the technical problem, but the unprofessional handling by the hotel staff. Even though I think that they were trying to be helpful and were generally nice they pushed the problem onto us and refused to take any responsibility. A hotel should never put guests in that position—especially after payment has already been confirmed. I hope the hotel improves its communication and training, because no guest should go through an experience like this. 2 stars for the service, because the receptionists allowed us to borrow their phone for calling Booking.com and gave us water :)"

"Great location, close to everything! Rooms were small, but who needs a big room in NYC anyway? Front desk & house staff were all super friendly and made our stay enjoyable. Would 100% recommend"

"There is no elevator, the stairwells get hotter as you climb them. The air conditioner in the fifth floor rooms won’t cool you off when you get to the top either. Swampy warm air. The outlets in the room are broken or unreachable, the tv didn’t work. No hot water. The only good things I can say are that the teeny room was fairly clean and the location was good."

"I found this hotel while searching for somewhere for my family with two kids, age 11 and 17 to stay for one night in the city. It was difficult to find anything with availability, even close to affordable, and located near Events we were doing. I was pretty sure I did a quick search on reviews and everything looked OK, but of course after I booked it, I started reading some reviews that worried me. We had a wonderful experience. I think the price was decent considering what you pay in the city. The room was very small, but that was to be expected as well. I found the room to be clean and as advertised. We did have a private bathroom, which I’m reading not all rooms do. Also, we had a decent size fridge and microwave which is more than I can say for hotels I’ve booked that were four/five times the size. I thought the bunkbeds were queen over queen, but apparently the top bunk was only a twin which left us cramped for sleeping. The room was too small to fit a cot, but Elaine at the front desk was amazing and she suggested that we just get the cot mattress and linens and use that which was a perfect solution for my son. The cat was to our room within five minutes.I found the beds to be quite comfortable and had no problem sleeping with noise or activity, which actually surprised me. We were close to everything we wanted to do and I had no issues with staff. Based on my personal experience, I would definitely stay here again."
