"We booked two nights at the Aura Hotel Brooklyn and had a very bad experience. First it was the greeting when we arrived, immidiately we were told there's no available rooms even though we booked and paid in advance. Then, when we finally got a room, it was not well maintained to say the least. The room was stincky, the beddings felt as if they were not changed - it was pretty disgusting. In addition, there wasn't any hot water in the shower and loud music all night long. We didn't stay for the second night. Even my email weren't answered and no refund has been made. Stay away!!!"

"Overall I had a great experience. Was a bit of a challenge getting the hotel given the neighborhood (and the fact that it’s in NY) - traffic was insane. Neighborhood feels safe, I parked on the road with no fear of my car being stolen. Front desk staff was helpful; room was clean and spacious with a terrace. They folded the towels and face cloths into origami, which I thought was a nice touch. High ceilings in my room (room 206) were reminiscent of the Monaco Hotel in DC (sans the huge lion head above the bed - big plus). They’re in transition so the king bed was two twins stuck together. I didn’t really like the look of the sheets so I slept in sweatpants and a hoody. Window curtains seemed to get in the way of the AC vent which blocked the air circulation if I closed the blackout curtain. The TV was a bit of a brain tease to turn on but once you get the hang of it, it’s no different than the TV at your house. There’s some new investment being injected into this neighborhood with the repaving of nearby roads and new builds across the street (as of 6 September 2025). I’ll admit I was a bit apprehensive considering the negative reviews (I was ready to cuss Hotwire out on the drive up to NY😂) but I was genuinely impressed once I got to my room! I would definitely stay here again. It’ll be great to see how much more they’ve improved in a year’s time. 👏🏽🤲🏽"

"The hotel room itself was very clean and tidy. The balcony view was undesirable, showcasing another brick building in front of us and a back alley with loading docks. Had I known this I would not have booked the balcony room. The front desk staff hospitality was somewhat inconsistent, sometimes we were greeted friendly and politely, and other times we were not acknowledged when coming and going. Also, room service staff did not clean and tidy the rooms daily. Lastly, hotel staff entered my room without notice and without consent. They quickly realized they had made a mistake entering, noticed I was undressed, and promptly left the room. I called the front desk to address the issue and it was made out to be no big deal. This was a violation of privacy, and they claimed that they were there to "fix the TVs", when our TV was already working. There was no courtesy call to let me know they were coming and did not knock on my door before entering. I feel it was unacceptable that they entered the room without consent and violated my privacy. I addressed this with the hotel manager and they offered a 20% off coupon and late checkout as an apology. My right to privacy is worth more than 20% off and late checkout for a place I wouldn't feel comfortable staying in again. Overall, this hotel is fair, far from 4 stars. Likely would look around the area before booking here, the stay was disappointing to say the least. All they have going for them is that the rooms are clean upon arrival."

"Rooms we're clean, cool, and the air quality was great. I work pest control so every hotel room I stay in gets a professional search. Proud to say I found no insects or rodent evidence. Staff is friendly and hospitable"
