"I had a great stay at this hotel. The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help with anything we needed. The location was perfect and made getting around very easy. Everything from check-in to check-out was smooth and stress-free. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area."

"clean and spacious rooms. nice location, near metro! we booked via booking.com free breakfast included. every day you have to get a breakfast voucher at reception. then there is a menu (actually two, one which is included in the room rate and one premium which is 15$) when you go with the free breakfast, you still end up paying some fees and taxes, depending on how much you ordered. i think thats kind of weird. room doors are def not soundproof!"

"Really agree with a lot of this. Free Breakfast is a bunch of BS Bread and cereal. Fineprint for sure. The gentlemen in the restaurant even told me to take full advantage of it. Really!? Also you get a surprise security deposit of $200.00. Wanted to cancel the last night of my reservation and I had plenty of time to cancel it. They could charge me for a security deposit which they say isn't charged which again is BS. I see a $96.40 charge for the days I stayed which I will dispute. They wouldn't cancel the other day cause it was a up charge on Labor Day weekend. So they really screwed me all they way around. The rooms were however nice and comfortable. Update to this review. This $96.40 fee is called a destination charge. They say it's 28 bucks a day and it's posted throughout the hotel." DO NOT STAY HERE" I was supposed to get a call back on this from the manger in explanation and never got one. I have gave the service and manager a rating of a 0 for willingly ripping off there customers. I've never felt so violated. I've seen many complaining about the something here. I was lied too over and over. This was already booked and paid for months. There was to be no more charges. If this hotel could charge you for oxygen levels they would. Awful I hope this review goes a long way in decisions for others to stay here."

"My boyfriend and I had a great stay at this hotel. The room was clean, cute, and modern. We loved the robes, the complimentary wine, and the remote blackout shade. The staff was nice, especially the restaurant staff at breakfast, they were all so great. I don't like to eat a huge breakfast, so the free breakfast option was perfect for me. The location near multiple subway stops was very convenient, and there were quite a few places in the area to eat. The only thing that was difficult was working the TV. It was not intuitive to us, but we weren't spending a ton of time in the room anyway. 100% would absolutely stay here again."

"Came to this hotel for a two night stay as we were in town for a wedding that was being held at a much more expensive 5-star hotel that was a little out of my budget. This hotel definitely delivered!! Reading some of the negative reviews made me very nervous about staying here, but it ultimately depends on what your needs are, reason for staying, and length of your stay. I can't comment on the location convenience as I was there for a specific reason with a set schedule. But the area did feel safe and as clean as clean can be when talking about New York. We would arrive back to Hotel 42 at very late times and the area was very well lit. There is a secure parking lot that you do have to pay a little extra for, but I never needed to use this option as we were able to find street parking every time we would leave and come back. The lobby area was on the smaller side. Not a place you and your friends can hang out in like in some larger hotels. But has a very cool movie like screen running the entire length of the wall that cycles through many different scenes in motion of landscapes and waterfalls etc.. We didn't frequent the restaurant for meals other than complimentary breakfast one morning. There were more options than your typical "continental breakfast" which was a nice surprise. My only qualm was the food did not come out warm. The servers were definitely eager to help and attentive/communicative. I did not send my food back to be reheated as I felt this would be a bit dramatic, but the spicy bloody Mary made everything better! Our room was exactly what we needed it to be. Nothing more. Nothing less. Clean sheets. Comfy bed. Clean bathroom. There was some wall paper peeling in the corner all the way up by the ceiling but that really doesn't have any effect on how well a bathroom works! Again, let's save the dramatics! An iron and ironing board. TV that mainly stayed on for background noise. I didn't even notice the humming of the subway honestly until the morning I was leaving. I had to call the front desk a couple times and they answered immediately and delivered my requests within 10 min or less. (Side note: I did leave behind a speaker in room 205 and a necklace that has my grandmother's ashes in it that I need to call and see if they found.) The rooms have this cool touch screen pad that you can use instead of hanging those door hangers when you don't want to be disturbed or if you need housekeeping to make up your room. The rooms also have a doorbell instead of having to listen for someone to knock on your door. All in all I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again myself."
