"I really enjoyed my visit with Frank at the flagship store in NY. I wanted to make sure my measurements were correct. Frank was patient with me and answered all of my questions. I am new to the world of custom clothing. I don't know the differences in materials. The website is great, but is I didn't understand the difference between twill and wool. I wasn't confident I was going to get what I wanted when I ordered online. Frank walked me through the differences. I also hate the process of returning things when, because of my error, the product I order is not exactly what I want (although I have never that experience with Proper Cloth). I am confident now when I order. I also now have "a guy" I can reach out to when I have questions. I highly recommend visiting the show room. More importantly, I would recommend reaching out to Frank"

"The best custom shirt maker in the business! Fabric selection and customization options are endless, and the shirt will fit great once you've dialed in your measurements. I'd recommend getting measured in person if you live near their NYC showroom, or measuring your best fitting shirt. I've been buying from Proper Cloth for over 10 years, and their garments are the most consistent of all the custom shirt makers I've tried. Plus, the construction is top notch, and they include details that you won't even find on designer shirts like unfused soft collars, shanked buttons, single needle stitching... Prices have gone up, but are still reasonable given the recent tariffs and inflation. Plus their customer service is friendly and knowledgeable. 10/10"

"Went to Proper Cloth with my son in DC and we had the most amazing experience! Jordan Mays is superb at his craft. He assisted and made suggestions to obtain the proper fit for my son’s suit, aligned fabric choices to his preference and was sooo incredibly patient. I would highly recommend Proper Cloth to any man looking to level up their stake and wardrobe game!"

"Fabrics and construction are where Proper Cloth excels. Unfortunately, Proper Cloth lets itself down on custom fit orders. The first shirt I sent was considerably oversized. Proper Cloth re-made at no expense, but that took another two weeks and required me to take the time to measure/photograph. The new shirt is still slightly too big, and far too long but I'll save myself the hassle and have it taken up (at my own expense) by a local alterations tailor. Proper Cloth will respond that they offer re-making of shirts that are mis-sized, a complimentary re-make of your first shirt to ensure dimensions are correct. While true, it remains a frustrating and laborious customer experience - especially compared to some of their competitors. If you advertise yourself as a custom shirt manufacturer, getting sizing correct must be core to your offering. But to reiterate, their fabric selection is excellent. Despite the above, I probably would use them for casual shirts (where precise fit isn't as important) if there was an interesting fabric."
