"Today, I was recommended to stop by Ellen in my search for a vintage pair of boots, but I walked in, said hello, and was unfortunately met with a confused look - no greeting from the store owner. That's fine. I perused, there were a few minutes of complete silence, and finally the store owner asked, "do you need help?" So I mentioned the referral and my search for some boots, and the store owner told me they wouldn't have anything in my size - which is fine! Not giving low rating due to lack of what I was looking for. The store is wonderfully curated and was enjoyable to look through! I would rather have continued perusing in complete silence instead of being looked at like I don't belong in the store, and asked "do you need help" as if the owner didn't want me there to begin with. I don't appreciate experiencing micro aggressions from store owners! If you are a person of color, I would steer clear."

"This shop is amazing with true incredible gems. Every piece I pulled out I was in awe of, the curation is fantastic. She has a great mix of vintage designer and no name labels, but incredible quality and materials. Ellen is also the coolest, down to earth woman and made me feel welcome immediately. I had such a lovely time in her shop and left with a gorgeous piece I know I'll have in my closet for years to come."

"Ellen is the ultimate IYKYK LES vintage mecca. If you know, you know that Ellen is an unparalleled source of amazing vintage in phenomenal fabrics, great cuts, and decent price points. She is also a wonderful human being. Ellen's is one of two vintage stores I bother with in the city any more. Ellen is a New York OG among the best of them and makes this city a more vibrant and special place to live (and to visit). Stop in, strike up a conversation, and leave with some amazing pieces AND the knowledge that Ellen continues to bring what she loves, along with her encyclopedic knowledge of fashion and New York, to us every day for our shared enthusiasm and enjoyment.
