"Joining the bandwagon here. I spent $1,300 here today on a gift - this is not chum change to me. They had no bag for my purchase to fit in so they stuffed a XL long wool coat into a plastic bag — they had to double fold it to even get it to fit. I have had better wrapping provided for me at TJ Maxx. Especially during the holidays they should be offering the bare minimum of having quality bags. I have since put this gift in a high quality Filson shopping bag - where I spent $1,000 less but received so much attention and appreciation for my purchase. What happened to the good old days of luxury shopping? Like when Nordstrom associates would come around the register and hand you your purchase. This has impacted the excitement I had to be able to purchase such a huge monetary gift for a loved one. You will not find me supporting this location again. (Red bag in photo is my tote I placed this into)"

"Used to love shopping here — the owner has always been great — but as someone who’s spent thousands of dollars (and who’s young, early in my career, and doesn’t come from money), I expected at least basic decency from the sales staff. Instead, I was treated like a nuisance while spending a meaningful chunk of my paycheck on something I’m passionate about. I don’t post negative reviews lightly, but this is both extremely disappointing and has been my experience the last 5+ times i’ve visited. It used to be one of the few places I’d recommend to visitors… now I don’t even want to go their myself."

"Great assortment of clothing and brands, and the space itself is nicely designed and well curated. That said, everything else about the experience falls flat. A big part of any retail experience is the interaction with the staff and here, it’s practically nonexistent. I’m not asking for much, a simple “hey” or “welcome in” goes a long way. But the staff here make it feel like they’d rather you weren’t there at all. It’s a shame that one of New York’s best men’s stores ends up being such an unpleasant place to shop."

"Owner seems very nice. Everyone else who works there sucks. Found a nice pair of pants and decided to leave because of rude the customer service. If brick and mortar is to make a comeback, customer service needs to be on the level. Im not paying $$$ to as jerk when the same item is cheaper on ssense"

"Wordy review but needed — I don’t know if the terrible customer service here is intentional or not, but I’ve experienced it on two separate occasions by the same associate. And after reading some of the other reviews, it seems to be an underlying issue. I work in retail for a luxury brand owned by LVMH, so I make an effort to support emerging brands and local boutiques in the city. With that being said, customer service is a large factor for me when shopping. Upon entering the store during both visits, I wasn’t greeted, wasn’t asked if I had any questions, if I was looking for anything, or hardly acknowledged at all. When I asked if there was a fitting room or if they had other sizes, I was met with a very lackadaisical attitude, as if I was disturbing him. I’m not looking for a formal shopping experience like my job provides, or even mundane pointless small talk. But at the end of the day, we’re all menswear nerds with shared interests, and we want to feel welcomed in a space that’s been a staple in NYC since ’09. C’H’C’M has a damn good buy, but there are other stores in the city that carry the same brands. Out of respect I won’t shamelessly plug them here (though I’m tempted to). If this “customer service” approach is intentional — to drive desirability, to feel more exclusive, or whatever the reason — then it’s corny, and I hope they improve on it. If you’re like me and value hospitality, I recommend shopping either online or at another boutique."
