"We took one of the earliest times on a Saturday morning and did not see other guests when we arrived or when we left, so we were attended to immediately. After filling out waivers on tablets, we were shown to the lockers where we could stow out coats and bags. Each locker had its own key that you could hold onto for the duration of your use. The room has a large, one-way window where people who are not playing and are sitting in the waiting area can watch those who are playing. The window looks like a mirrored wall to the players. There are small fans hanging from the ceiling along one side of the room, but I didn't feel much of a breeze. The breeze would have been welcomed bc you work a sweat very quickly. The floor and one wall is completely covered in weight-sensitive tiles - you really need to put a good amount of weight on the tile either by stomping or stepping on it with most of your weight to activate them. Many times, I would tap a tile with my foot and it would not turn off. It has to be a good amt of pressure. Every time a new round starts, there is a countdown and then the tiles on the wall would show you what kind of pattern to expect from the red tiles (you want to avoid the red tiles). Our group of 5 were able to complete several rounds, so yes, it is recommended to have about 4-6 people in your group, but also be aware that the more people there are, the more chances of crashing into each other. You are so focused on trying to turn off all the blue squares that you don't notice when your teammate has zeroed in on turning off the same tile. It was a very fun cardio experience and luckily it is only about 45 min long. About halfway thru, the hostess asked if we wanted to step out into the waiting room to take a short break, which we all eagerly accepted. There are cold drinks for sale and a standing fan in the waiting area to help everyone cool off. When we were done, the TV screen in the room displayed our score, how many lives we used, and how much game time we spent. Squarena is great for those who have a lot of energy, do not have knee issues, and are looking for a small group activity. I'm not sure our group would do it again, but it's definitely one of those things you should try at least once (while you're young and nimble)!"

"Went there during the summer. It was a great experience, definitely a workout. I loved that there was like resting period between the game and there was water being sold there, it was $1. There is also locker to put your stuff in. I definitely recommend this place, great place to bring kids or if you just want a fun way to exercise. The way to enter was a bit weird with like the buttons to get permission to go in but other than that amazing place. Definitely recommend reserving a spot online."

"What a fun time this was. My wife and I initially signed our 6 and 7 year old up and by the end of it we couldn’t resist and joined in. We met the cofounders and they were very friendly and informative. I could see myself doing this 4-5 times a year easily. Hoping to get one of these in Jacksonville, FL!!"

"Squarena is such a fun and unique experience, especially in NYC! We went as a group of 6 (the max for the large room), and it was an absolute blast. It’s definitely a workout. they even give you a mini break in between rounds, which was MUCH needed. Make sure to wear sneakers, follow the wall, and try to avoid the red while making your way up through the 12 levels. We managed to get up to level 7 before celebrating with a birthday surprise for one of our friends. The staff was friendly, clear, and helpful. they explained everything so well. We were all sweating by the end, but in the best way possible! I can’t wait to come back. This is such a great activity for birthdays, kids, adults, or even a fun date night. Highly recommend!"

"I love this place so much, the service is absolutely amazing. I was so entertained while I was here. Isabella and Hyun were very engaging and helped me ease off any tension I had. The game itself was fun, I always challenge myself and end up getting to level 18. I'm determined to pass it at some point though. I've been here 3 times and will definitely come back!"
