"I’ve been wanting to visit Smacking Burger for a while now and I finally visited it on 10/19/25. The burger was good for sure but I wouldn’t say it was the best burger I ever had. I would come back if I’m in the Chelsea neighborhood. I got the All The Way Burger and a side of fries. Burger was cooked well but the cheese and bacon was a big help to making it taste even better. The fries were crispy but could have used more salt. The wait wasn’t too long and they have a seating area outside the gas station. Other than that, it was ok for a burger spot that’s inside a gas station. But check it out if you’re in NYC."

"Can a place be "good" while still being considered overrated? Smacking Burger is the perfect example of that. I had the Big Smack and animal style fries. Firstly - for the burger, I'd probably get one with a little less stuff on it. I felt the toppings drowned out the flavor of the meat. I would probably use regular Martin's potato rolls as opposed to the sesame seed buns they're using. The texture throws the burger off a bit. I really enjoyed the fries, but would probably order them without the chimichurri, and lighter on the pickles. I felt those two things were excessive. I would recommend taking my food to go. They have no rest room facilities - which is odd for a gas station, and even more odd for a sit down restaurant. My review is probably closer to a 3 1/2, because it was enjoyable, but could use some work. The hype is excessive, and to me, it was just another good but overpriced smash burger joint in NYC. Worth tying if you're in chelsea/west village areas, but not worth going out of your way for."

"First time having it and it was good burger. Patties weren’t dry, seasoned well, the bacon stayed crispy.I added lettuce and sauces to mine. Really solid burger not overly sloppy but sloppy enough ifykyk. Service was great, fast too. But please fix the front doorstep. I almost lost my life getting this burger, I tripped walking in."

"So the location is a tiny Mobil gas station. I've gotten gas from here a few times in the past but I never noticed there was a burger place here. Naturally, I was apprehensive about buying burgers from a tiny gas station but I was convinced by a coworker on how good it's supposed to be. Well, I walked in and he was absolutely right! The burgers were freshly made in a clean setting with a lot of options for toppings to choose from. They are also very well priced. I'd definitely go back."

"Absolutely fantastic burger, fantastic people, fantastic vibes. Literally in the inside of a gas station — you can fill your car up and get a yummy smash burger all in 5 minutes. Sub out the ketchup and mustard for the smack sauce! Similar to a Big Mac/In and Out spread. Really cute marketing and stickers too! 9.7"
