"We stopped by last weekend on a whim as we were walking through Brooklyn and I have to say that we got extremely lucky - Shipwreck is the best seafood spot! Joey was super kind and full of energy even though as he was telling us that he goes out in the way early hours (4am) to get the freshest seafood and brings it back to the store for the following day. Joey gave us a fresh batch of giant shrimp and we cooked them up in the evening - delicious!!! Joey also kindly gave us some really tasty and homemade whitefish and salmon salad. We will be back for more seafood for sure, even though we live quite far. Would highly recommend! 5/5 stars!!"

"I’ve stopped by this spot a few times when I’m in the neighborhood, and it never disappoints. It’s a friendly, family-owned small business where the owner always makes me feel welcome which adds to the whole experience.....This time, I had the fried whiting sandwich with fries, and everything was delicious. The sandwich comes the traditional way, served on white or wheat sliced bread, just like the classic fried fish places I grew up with, so I was prepared for the occasional bone you naturally get with whiting. The fries were flavorful, crisp, and cooked perfectly. Consistently great food and a go-to whenever I’m in the area."

"I am so confused by the reviews of this place. I decided to order based on the positive reviews and I am so disappointed. The fried whiting sandwich was flavorless, tough, and had several bones. I only realized once I bit into it. The bread was just white bread — not the buns pictured. The fries were sprinkled with old bay but still tasteless and soggy."

"The food here was amazing. I had the soft-shell crab sandwich and some fried shrimp. The portions were satisfying. This spot is small but so cozy!! I loved that open windows which gives that outdoor feel without being directly in the sun. You can purchase fresh fish or directly from the hot food menu. I will definitely come here again."

"Joey is the man! As a private chef in the city, he has the best seafood and the best customer service. Always a smile on his face. His seafood is always fresh and at great prices. His knowledge about where he gets his seafood always amazes me. If you aren’t getting your seafood from here then are you really eating right?!?! I THINK NOT. Go get yourself a sandwich or some raw fish, NOW."
