"Honshu Sushi in Jersey City delivered a really solid experience. I stopped in with coworkers and walked out impressed. The restaurant itself is a good size with a clean, modern bar area and a solid ambience that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy the meal. The service is friendly and attentive without feeling overbearing, and the food comes out in a reasonable amount of time. The a la carte sushi was on point. Everything tasted fresh and clean, with a good mix of the basics like tuna, salmon, and yellowtail, plus more unique cuts like uni, botan ebi, king salmon, and Hokkaido scallop. The uni from Maine was perfectly chilled, sweet, and creamy. The botan ebi had a great briny flavor, and the clam was light with a subtle sweetness that surprised me. If I had to nitpick, the salmon could be sliced a bit thicker, and I wish they used fresh wasabi root instead of the usual paste. Even so, the quality and pricing are very reasonable, especially for Jersey City. Overall, Honshu is a great spot for sushi, and I would happily come back the next time I am in the area."

"Absolutely amazing sushi!! The sashimi appetizer and spicy tuna tartare were amazing and I wish I had taken a picture. The rolls were so good! We got the (top to bottom) New Jersey, White Pearl, Crazy Tuna, Honshu (and more New Jersey). I think I'm remembering those names right. We also had some non-sushi eaters in our party. They recommend the edamame and say the cooked fish is delicious too 😜"

"I usually don’t post bad review but was super disappointed this time. Ordered the Sashimi Sampler via delivery, which on description was “assorted Premium chef’s choice sashimi.” Opened the box and saw both pieces of the salmon were a very poor cut that could be considered scrap, not to mention the meat itself was very hard to chew due to the thick white lining from that particular part of the fish. Very disappointed in Hongshu and its advertisement of this dish as a premium offering."

"I've had their omakase course a few times. Cons: the reception lady is always unfriendly. Never says hi. lol The servers aren’t that nice or welcoming either. Omakase size is a mini size. Pros: neighborhood Taste was mid for a neighborhood quality."

"So glad we found a great restaurant nearby! We went for Friday lunch for the first time and didn’t expect anything extraordinary, but we were pleasantly surprised. The quality of the food was spot-on, especially considering the price. We really enjoyed it! The tuna sushi, sashimi, and rolls were amazing, and the tempura was also excellent. We’ll definitely be back for dinner and plan to visit more often. Highly recommend!"
