"Long time shopper, first time reviewer. Honestly it’s hard to decide on stars for EVO… They aren’t really 3 stars, but 2 and below seems drastic. What I mean is the customer service is awful. 99% of the counter staff is reliably unfriendly(the older dude -not the owner- is downright snarling and aggressive to customers…what does it say about them that they keep him??). The dudes stocking the store are the only actually nice people who work there. Unfortunately, they are also the only place on the east side to carry certain items, and their west side counterparts aren’t any friendlier(I can’t be the only person to notice that the people who work in organic healthy holistic stores are always way more bitter and crankier than people in regular grocery stores?), so yes, though vastly reduced, I do still shop here. The soup is good, as are the sides made in house that they stock in the fridge. You couldn’t pay me to pay that much for a smoothie(the $20 Hamilton Beach blenders at Target work as well as any Ninja, and last at least a year. You’re welcome.😌). So I don’t *recommend* them, but nor would I say you should never go here."

"Omg I adore this little shop. Surprisingly well-stocked organic food store that smells fresh! Smoothies are ~$13-18, juice bar open til 6! The spirulina cloud is pretty good (refreshing, less flavourful than it looks tho). Just being inside here gives me joy. Organic produce, snacks, electrolytes, chocolate, the most extensive collection of Yogi Tea I have seen (they earn 5 stars just on this basis). Great people. Great energy"

"The smoothie was so delicious and filling! I didn’t try the famous coco cloud - went for a berry with spinach added. I split it into two because it was that filling so worth the $$ Also the grocery store has awesome products!"

"I came for the Coco Cloud smoothie. That’s what I ordered and it was fantastic. It was tangy and smooth, the perfect amount of sweetness, and of course the color is eye catching. For the $13, it definitely felt like a treat and not something I’d get all the time but I enjoyed it. My friend ordered the Secret garden juice with beets, grapefruit, pineapple, turmeric, and ginger and she liked it. The employees were friendly and patient. It wasn’t crowded when I came in.. just a few people doing some shopping. We walked around the store and I liked that they had lots of health food items, supplements, vitamins, and vegan snacks and groceries, etc.. It was like a grocery store just with more interesting items. If I was in the area I’d definitely come back in."

"On the rare occasion I start feeling a bit under the weather, I always slide over to East Village Organic to heal me. Something about overpaying for organic vegetables really makes me feel better. It's a small mom & pop grocery store with all produce 100% USDA Organic. Certified. Stamp that. They have ready made salads and soup, and I usually go with the 7oz Kale & Quinoa salad that runs me $6.49. HURTS the pockets. The fact the Kale isn't even organic in the ready made salad though...idk. I really come in here for the best ingredients possible for my locally world famous Strawberry Salad. I get a pack of 5oz organic baby butter lettuce ($4.49), a pack of organic strawberries ($6), and the secret ingredient that I can't tell you... okay fine it's a real, quality white vinegar. A good white vinegar goes so far, but the mainstream media won't tell you that. People are running here to try the Erewhon dupe coconut cloud smoothie, but their smoothies have never really done it for me, idk. NYC smoothie culture is lacking. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews"
