"I’m very, very confused. I ordered chow mein from this restaurant, which is a stir fried wheat noodle dish with vegetables and some sort of protein. If one googles “chow mein”, this is what comes up. Chow mein literally means “fried noodles” in cantonese. Chow mein is different from Lo Mein, which is typically boiled noodles topped with sauce (i usually find it soggy and bland, i prefer the stir fried chow mein). I confirmed via images of the menu (screenshot attatched). But i got a completely different dish—goopy, tasteless chicken with wet cabbage, served with rice and no noodles. I ordered from another Chinese restaurant and got something similar. What is going on? Am I going insane? Someone please help me solve this mystery. Photos attached are what i thought i was getting and then what i actually got."

"Good NYC Chinese food. I do feel that they need to fix their wontons, the meat tastes a bit off. Not necessarily stale, just off. But otherwise I love everything, I’m just a huge fan of egg drop wonton and I really need them to work on that product."

"We got a lot of food for 4 people, but each order was absolutely amazing. The only thing is the egg rolls seemed a bit over cooked but I think that's just an overlook. I got the beef lo mein, best order out there."

"Bruh…. If you want something cheap, quick, please visit here Bad I think they are super busy, because they receive a lot of order especially during lunch- you hardly can ask for altering of “less” something. They made it quick and cheap and with tons of choice so I can’t blame them. Again the staff is not super friendly and “hospitality”- but you can pay extra 15$ for “service” right, its too cheap to complain The food is little oily imo Best Yummy food, quick serve, literally serve the best function of it- being a restaurant They have variety of choices- which I tried most of their menus and they are not bad at all They have open kitchen so customer can see people cooking- nothing shady at all, and you can see its pretty clean I think you cant complain with such price, will comeback again and again. I hope they wont change of raise the price."

"Brunch time, and what better way to reward myself than with some hearty Chinese comfort food? While strolling along the NYC streets on the way to the studio during rehearsals, I stumbled upon China Gourmet – a no-frills spot that turned out to be a delightful find. On May 9th, I tried the Chicken with Broccoli Rice paired with an Egg Roll. The chicken was tender, the broccoli perfectly cooked, and the savory sauce tied everything together beautifully. The egg roll? Crispy, golden, and packed with flavor. Today, I went back for more and opted for the Chicken with Mixed Vegetables and a Wonton Soup. The mixed veggies were fresh and crunchy, and the chicken. The wonton soup was light yet satisfying, with plump, flavorful wontons swimming in a soothing broth. China Gourmet might not flaunt a flashy exterior, but the food speaks for itself – simple, delicious, and satisfying. Would I go back? Definitely 👍"
