"I'm reviewing barzinis NOW, not the barzinis of the past. TODAY'S Barzini's received an A on their health inspection and are paying the required fines, training staff in the required food safety courses, and following the required cleaning procedures. I shopped at Barzini's before, but it's like a new store now. The cheese section is neat and tidy, and still holds the best selection and prices for cheeses on this neck of the upper west side. The produce section has also been tidied up, and is still as diverse and fresh as before. Where else can you find 5 types of mushrooms by the pound (oyster, shitake, enoki...), several types of root vegetables, and hard-to-find foods from napa cabbage to dragon fruit to fresh turmeric? Most of the produce you can pick yourself so don't have to worry about your prepackaged spinach being moldy. There are deals every week, and their egg prices stay low. Their butter selection continues to be top tier--everything from buffalo milk to Beurre d'isigny to Kate's to vegan. And you can't forget their plentiful spices and hard-to-find middle eastern products. If you have trouble navigating the store, the kind staff (or cute cat Mimi!) is always ready to help. I'd say sometimes Barzini's canned beans can be a bit old, and their meat selection is small. But I think it's important to turn the other cheek and give Barzini's another chance (Matthew 5:39). It's even more important to love thy neighbor, who keeps your money in the neighborhood, and not the soulless union-busting conglomerates Key Foods and Trader Joes, who already ran Uptown Whole Foods out of business and send all your hard-earned money to shareholders in Kansas City. "This place was already bad enough selling expired and overpriced items, overcharging credit cards and committing fraud against old people, but the fact that they let the store get to the point it's gotten to with live cockroaches and rats on cutting boards etc. is outrageous. Even more outrageous is their decision to stay open and subsequent claim that "they're going to fix it up." This isn't a broken down car. This store has had nothing but contempt for health and wellbeing of its customers for years and now wants to act like everything is fine. It should never be able to reopen under this current ownership group, and if you shop here you are a mark, frankly."

"I’m a private chief and i know very well the food quality and i shop all over the neighbourhood, I discovered Barzini like 2 months ago , that’s my favourite store . They have all kind and different kind of merchandise with a great prices and great quality and more importantly anytime i need something specific, the owner of the store Mr.Parviz he will get that for me in shorter time . Plus in the late night when im missing some items while cooking. I run to the store , because its 24 hrs open Overall this shop is a must go to !"

"Best selection from a small Mart I've ever seen. Great vegan options. Good beer selection. If I lived in Manhattan I'd go here everyday."
