"We stopped in for dinner during the holidays and really enjoyed the adventure of trying Ethiopian food! Our server was really awesome and super helpful about recommendations and explanations! We ordered the lamb for two and both ate so much and had enough to take home for the next days lunch. The spices and tastes are fun and we would recommend you stop in for a visit. Maybe not with your kids."

"Mmmmmm, new Ethiopian in the 'hood! With affordable prices (most dishes in the $20s and combs in the $30s) and plenty of flavor, Awaze will do just nicely in the area while offering slightly newer, more modern digs than its competition. Over a catch-up lunch, my friends and I munched on the Awaze Veggie Combo for two, which offered loads of string beans, red lentils, collard green, chickpeas, cabbage, split peas and beetroot. We paired that with the Meat Combo for two, which came with doro wot, tibs, yesiga alicha, and two side veggies (we added more cabbage and collard greens). Fun fact: Their combos for two can easily feed 2-4 people total. So enjoy those savings. Also, we tacked on kitfo, our favorite Ethiopian meat dish. Don't know if it was because they were feeling generous or if we just won them over with all our gushing, but I feel like we were served an extra big, extra flavorful serving of it. Uncooked cow.....drool! Some of us washed down our flavorful lunch with their Spiced Tea, which was bursting with cloves and cardamom. Will definitely be back."

"Awaze Ethiopian Cuisine made my trip a time to remember and fall to the city of NY! The plate I ordered was a mixture of both fasting and non fasting ( vegetable, lentils, split pea with a meat in the center: KITFO and GORED GORED). They were all so tasty that made me decide to have another for a takeaways so my friends in D.C will try it. The hospitality of the service, real Ethiopian coffee and the fact that the Chef himself (Gech) checking on how the food tastes is a plus that made me want to write… This is a perfect Ethiopian dinning place with a good value and service. Thank you Gech and the Team!"

"This was a top tier experience! First time ever trying Ethiopian food, and definitely won’t be the last. Our server was wonderful walking us through the popular dishes and sharing our excitement in our first taste. Food was hot and well balanced with multiple great flavors, the beer was sweet hitting the spot on a hot day, and the dessert was the perfect cherry on top to a wonderful lunch. Can’t wait to take my friend and family here!"

"My cousin and I loved this restaurant . The service was amazing; the woman serving us was so kind and hardworking. The food itself was really good and my cousin had a very positive experience for her first time having Ethiopian food. The portion size was really good and worth the price. We would definitely come again."
