"TLDR: Great Izakaya with bang-for-your-buck skewer platter options. Ate an obscene amount on this day and Skewer Platter A + the sushi we ordered really hit the spot. Hamachi collar was decent, but the vegetarian dishes (veggie tempura and the fresh tofu) were extraordinary ngl. Tofu is a must order. Shochu (similar to sake) + beer always a good combo. Service was great as we kept ordering food and drinks, and they were able to accommodate my dietary restrictions in moving beef out of the skewer platter A plating to the skewer platter B. Would return!"

"Overall very enjoyable and similar to izakaya in Japan. The yakitori and gyoza was solid. Yokitori, juicy and perfectly cooked. The pork katsu curry also pleasant however there is no way to modify spiciness for the curry so slight downside there. Could get out for under $30 pretty easily but if your drinking habits are slightly similar to mine you might be up a bit more. Didn't see much option for whiskey highballs but still I plan on coming back."

"A fun spot to try innovation sukiyaki Japanese hotpot. Their wagyu meat was so soft and great quality. There’s a lot of seating and the staff members were very helpful. I would def come back."

"Ai Ki Ya is a cozy Japanese izakaya that truly feels like a hidden gem straight out of Tokyo. I came for their sukiyaki hotpot, and it was so flavorful and comforting, easily one of the best I’ve had in NYC. Their grilled skewers are cooked in the kitchen and served hot, so you can just sit back and enjoy. Great drink selection too, with a full bar and Japanese vibes all around. Whether it’s a solo night, girls’ night, or date night, this place is such a vibe. Will definitely be back!"

"Fun atmosphere and delicious food! We really enjoyed their skewers, especially the quail egg with bacon! The rainbow roll and Takoyaki were our favorites. The Salmon Tataki is a must try and I loved the frozen passion fruit margarita. Will be back!"
