"We did the fbi agent room and I was a little disappointed in the beginning because it didn’t look like any more rooms would open up but then we progressed through the story and it was so perfect. Sarah was helpful and stepped in at the right times. She was so sweet and took pictures for us after. I would definitely go back to try different scenarios."

"Alex was our game host, my group chose the Clock Tower, one of the more difficult ones. Best done with a group of four in my opinion. We made it to the final room but got stumped during the last few minutes. 8/10 Would recommend."

"I went with a group of 6 and our group had so much fun. We did the “dig” escape room. It was well thought out and well constructed. The puzzles were so engaging and so satisfying to complete, they also didn’t feel so impossible! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, not to mention funny. I can’t wait to visit again!"

"I've done 55+ escape rooms and the two rooms I did at Escape the Room NYC were solid! I was visiting from out of town so I was by myself, but when I called, the person at the front desk gave me some great recommendations for rooms that are good for solo play. I ended up playing Jurassic Escape and The Home. Of the two, I enjoyed Jurassic Escape more, but someone who enjoys Gen 1 rooms may also enjoy The Home (i.e. more mechanical puzzles, many locks as opposed to tech-y puzzles). Jurassic Escape had playful theming and the inclusion of high-tech puzzles was fun. Very immersive set. All the puzzles made sense and the two places I got stuck the longest were 1. at the beginning due to a visibility issue; even after the game master walked me through the puzzle, I wasn't really able to see what I was working on and 2. A puzzle that was finicky to get the timing right on. My game master for Jurassic was Zero and he was a delight! Really cool vibes. Attentive, responsive, and sprinkled some humor and character into his clues. I appreciate that he took time after the room to answer my questions, take my pictures, and chat a bit about escape rooms. The Home was less of a unique experience, and it was not my favorite room. It had some characteristics that are just pet peeves of mine in escape room design, so I found myself wanting to use hints to get past those bits. For example, the original position of something in the room mattered, but it was possible for players to move those things, making it difficult (or even impossible?) to complete those puzzles without a hint. It seems like that's so common that one of the available hints is showing you the original position of those items. If I could tweak that puzzle, I would glue down those items or mark their original positions. Also, it seems like it's hard for game masters to hear you in this room, so it was harder for me to be on the same page as my game master Alex when I was asking for hints. Despite that, Alex was also attentive, responsive, and took time to answer my questions and take my pictures after the game. He gave off a warm and friendly energy. Excellent customer service and experience at Escape the Room NYC! As for the rooms themselves—if you're an escape room enthusiast visiting from out of town, only have time for 1 or 2 rooms, and are looking for extremely high caliber rooms, I'd pass on The Home and would recommend Jurassic, but there may be better (I can't say for sure because I'm not from here, but I've done others in other cities that have blown me away more). Jurassic was TERPECA nominated (Top Escape Rooms Project Enthusiasts' Choice Award) most recently in 2022. If I were a local, these rooms are quality enough that I would happily try all of them."
