"A cozy neighborhood salon. Mimi is so talented and knew exactly how to fix my short (botched) hair. You can tell she has good sense and is a real expert at her craft. She had a great understanding of my hair growth and what previous stylists had done. Would definitely go back"

"Awesome experience very authentic Korean salon with stylist straight from korea! If I visit NYC again I would definitely come back. I got a men's perm for only 170 which is much more affordable than most salons in NYC. Sofie was super caring and put a lot of attention to detail she's awesome would recommend. Update- right after my haircut I thought it looked good. But about 3 weeks in it looks even better after the perm has settled down. Haven't needed to style my hair in weeks."

"-- I made an online appointment for my 12-year-old child at Aate Beauty Salon on 9/19. The salon advertised a kids' haircut for ages 6-12 at $55 (E4). I submitted my credit card information, agreeing to the $55 charge. On the day of the appointment, I arrived with my child for her haircut. Midway through the service, the owner, Soomi, informed us that her haircut would actually cost $90. When I showed her my email confirmation of the $55 price for a kids' haircut, as well as the information on their squareup.com website, she rudely told us, "Then only pay $85." It wasn’t about getting $5 off—it’s about the ethics and professionalism of how Soomi runs her business, which I find very deceptive and unprofessional. When I pointed out that we were not informed of the $90 price when making the reservation or before her haircut started in person, the quality of the service dramatically declined. My daughter's haircut was rushed, leaving her with uneven lengths in both the front and back. (Please see photos). They didn’t even bother drying her hair, so she left the salon with wet hair and a horribly done cut, which now I have to take her to someone else to fix. If you’re considering this salon, be prepared to be scammed by Soomi and expect to be charged at least 50% more than what you signed up for! Positive reviews here are questionable. They lure you in with advertised prices, only to demand much more once you started the service. And if you question them, they will retaliate with terrible hair service. I’ve never had such an experience at any other Korean hair salon in NYC."

"I had my roots and the rest of my hair lightened since it had grown out quite a bit from my previous balayage. I also got the previous balayage done at this salon, so this is my second visit! I really love my new hair color! All the staff and designers at AATE Hair Salon are so friendly, and I always feel like I'm receiving the best service."

"I recently visited AATE Hair Salon for the first time. My hair is fine, lacks volume, and had previously been bleached. After seeing positive reviews and pictures of Min's work on Google, I decided to book an appointment. Following a wash, I consulted with Min about my hair. Given its significant damage, Min recommended a style that would minimize further damage and create a natural curl. He suggested Root and C curl perm and tone downed the color to brown-black color. Having been accustomed to a layered cut for over a decade, I had a specific style in mind. Min suggested a heavier layering to balance the lightness of my hair and its color. I am very satisfied with the results. Thanks to Min's professional skills and meticulous care, the outcome exceeded my expectations."
