"I love the atmosphere in this club. Yeah, the vibe control is strict here, so you see petulant children demanding justice for being turned away at the door sometimes, but it's not all *that* strict, or they wouldn't let me in. It's a good idea to read instructions on the website and act as a reasonable grown-up. Good hearing protection seriously suggested, but that's true for most clubs."

"Just came off a b2b Friday and Saturday night at Basement and the experience was exceptional. The music is deep, dark and looping techno (studio has a more upbeat techy sound and may layer in vocals), though it changes from hour to hour and each night I went was slightly different musically. The club is VERY queer friendly, and the Saturday night I went was Wrecked and so the gays were in control (iykyk). One thing that surprised me was the lockers, you rent a locker for about $9.8 usd and this requires a data connection. The service inside the club is pretty bad so renting the locker can be an annoying process (standing near the tvs worked for me). You need a locker, no cloak room and plus you’ll want to strip off a bit to get with the vibe. Once inside, explore the complex maze that is basement. Basement really is an outlet for free expression, including sexually, so if seeing human beings express themselves in dance and sex disturbs you, don’t come. Best club in the USA, euphoric. Entry was 30 usd to wrecked. The other night I pre purchased a ticket. Both nights the club was busy. Drinks on the expensive side but not unreasonable given the venue. Entry and drink prices are worth it. Friday night did seem cheaper for drinks. Also, they stopped serving alcohol after 4 am (I think) but the club closes around 8 am - though after 4, no one is really drinking anymore anyway 👀 and vibe is at its peak and then starts to taper off around 6:30. Me being me stayed to close cause that’s what I do."

"Your only option in NYC for that dark liberating industrial techno experience. Fantastic sound system for the main stage. Their second stage, studio, leaves a bit to be desired — it’s more of a bonus though. If you’re trans don’t worry about the bouncers, they know we belong here. Come on a Saturday night, Fridays have more tourists and people who don’t know how to put their phone away. Would raise to 5 stars if they started kicking out people who still use their phones on the dance floor."

"Still a great place, but Quality has gone down. Used to be one of the only places that strictly enforced their vibe rules, which really made the atmosphere what it was. Three of the defining features were its No photo/video policy, no phones out on the dancefloor, and a door policy to weed out clout chasers. All of that has started to go away. Ive had flash photos taken of me, people with their phones at max brightness at the rail, and a vibe that has started to cater to social media influencers rather than an actual experience. The phone on the dancefloor is pretty annoying because the club is so dark that a phone screen acts as floodlight into your eyes. And just kills the vibe so hard when the people at the rail care more about their social media than dancing. Seen so many people taking the stickers off their cameras, knowing that no one could take and post photos of me while we’re vibing was so comfortable. They DO take sexual/physical safety seriously, they’ve kicked out people ive reported for touching my friends and i inappropriately! Which is awesome. I just hope they start to enforce the phone related rules again."

"One of if not the best club in New York. Be aware that they have a STRICT vibe check and you need to be there to dance. If you don’t know the music, you likely won’t get in. All black recommended. Is mostly deep trance electronic music. Don’t expect pop remixes. The vibe is Berlin underground rave scene. Worth the haul to Maspeth!"
