"We followed the advice of the very nice lady in the Aix tourism office and took the 25 minute walk to Santons Fouque. We spent an hour there marveling at the amazing figurines and other items that the Fouque family creates. We fell in love with a modestly sized crèche and watched and conversed with Mr. Fouque as he carefully packed our crèche for travel. He then gave us a detailed demonstration of his meticulous process of forming and painting his figures. One might balk at the prices he asks for his work but after we experienced his “tour” we think our purchase was a bargain. As we departed we visited the absolutely incredible display of thousands of figurines and structures all integrated into a beautiful village scene. This is something that must not be missed."

"Santons are the traditional nicoise crèche figures. The selection was really nice, with both traditional and more innovative figures (pêcheur in a pointu). It was great to meet the current artist who took the time to explain how the pieces are made. Some have multiple molds and are then assembled (which explains why they are more expensive) while many are from a single mold (and highly affordable). Each is beautifully painted. There is a Christmas display across the garden from the shop that has a lovely display of santons. (Note how the figurines in back are also smaller giving a greater sense of depth to the overall scene. It will give an idea of why you might want different sized santons.) Really, it's beautiful art. Enjoy!"

"The santons are being made here , by the family through generations . There are different sizes , and several new creations each year . On the other side of the garden you can see a traditional provencal christmas setting , with the santons and the provence house decorations ."
