"Today, Sunday, my wife and I rediscovered the shoes we bought several months ago here in Aix-en-Provence at the store: Mizuno shoes with special running socks (and a nice receipt!). We were beginners then, and still are, because our shoe sizes (38 and 42) are much larger than the shoes we bought at the store on the salesperson's advice (40 and 44). He said feet swell when running, which is a good thing, but going two sizes up seemed like a lot. We'd come to see the pros, so we listened to their advice, and after just one run, we experienced rubbing, pain, blisters, disappointment, and several euros later, the shoes were back in the box after a few minutes of running. This is just a warning to beginners: take your time before buying to make sure you're making the right choice, and take advice from other users. It's truly frustrating not being able to go running when you have brand new shoes that are too big sitting in a drawer. We're also responsible for this situation; we should have been more insistent about the sizing and tried them on. We bought them smaller, and we thought about selling them at half price on a well-known website rather than throwing them away, but psychologically it was, and still is, a difficult experience that put an end to our desire to run.
